Sally Hansen Fall 2014 Runway Collection-New York Fashion Week

While at Bed Bath & Beyond recently I stumbled across a display of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish, at first I thought this was from the spring 2014 Runway Collection but as I looked closer I noticed the shades were different from the spring collection. A quick Google search came up with nothing so I think its safe to say this is a new launch. The new Display is a Limited Edition display called Runway Collection New York Fashion Week.

It appears that there are fifteen shades in this collection: Glam Sequins: Five glitter top coats, Fall Pastels: Five light creams, and Dark Romance: Five darker shades some with shimmer.

In the display the shades are” left corner from left to right: Fall Pastels: Himalaya, In The Flesh, Cute-ture,Moulin Rose and Rhododendron, Front shades Dark Romance: from left to right: On the Mango, Somber Bliss, Ever Green, Dark Knight, and Ruper Red. Shades in right back from left to right Glam Sequins: Chile Flakes, Golden Rush, Vintage Confetti, Pink Dream, and Shattered Stars.

I purchased Pink Dream, this is a one coat on top of The new Matte Royal Shyness see review here.

Sally Hansen Create & Ornate Royal Statements-Limited Edition Polish

I purchased six of the eight Limited Edition Polishes from the Create & Ornate Royal Statements Collection. This collection has a black nail art pen, a white and silver nail art polish, four Matte Effect, and four Glitter Effect polishes which are the Xtreme Wear polishes.

This display was found at CVS and were purchased as a buy one get one 50% off.

Here is a picture of the display:

I purchased the four Matte Effects: Chain Mail, Wax Poetic, Blue Blood, and Royal Shyness, then two of the four Glitter Effects: Mind Your Manors, and Court Jest, I did take photos of the other two (photos below) and they are called Rogue Red, and Family Jewels. Rogue Red is much like Rouge Rush just with more red than pink.

The Mattes reminded me of the Quick Dri Matte, click here for swatches, however these went on much easier and has the brush which I like. Each swatch has two coats.

The Glitter Effects are all a mix of shard glitter, these swatches have one coat and went on smooth, the top coat is thin unlike recent glitter top coats from Sally Hansen.

Sally Hansen Limited Edition Color Foil Collection

Sally Hansen sent me the Limited Edition Color Foil Nail Makeup Collection. This is another collection found in the Summer 2014 Limited Edition I Heart Nail Art Liquid Mani-A Collections. Click Glitter  or Matte for more swatches from the summer collection.

There are eight shades to choose from, for this blog I am reviewing Titanium Flush, Purple Alloy, and Cobalt Chrome. There has been a lot of questions floating around on this foil collection such as do these stamp and how long does the shine last, I not only swatched but also test wore this polish to answer these questions.

The finish on this polish is a metallic mirror like finish which means every imperfection on your nails will show so be sure to buff up the nails before using this collection.

When using this polish you do not apply a base or top coat and you will need two coats for the perfect look. The polish goes on quick, make sure to take excess polish off the brush prior to application, the polish will dry fast so there isn’t a long wait time to add that second coat. The polish does come out of the bottle looking streaky (make sure to shake well) but it does fade as the polish dries.

I test wore Cobalt Chrome for two days at the office, gym and normal daily wear and was pleasantly surprised that the polish did not fade like OPI Push and Shove did. The polish does eventually receive a few wear spots but nothing a quick touch up can’t resolve.

Does it stamp? Yes it does however not every shade is like the other! Purple Alloy and Titanium Flush stamped very easily however Colbalt Chrome gave me a little push back and I think it is only because it dried quicker.

This collection is a high maintaince type of polish for several reasons, one you really need to buff those nails, two you will need touch ups every few days for extended wear. I will only recommend this polish if you do not mind the extra maintaince and you enjoy a chrome look on the nails!

Sally Hansen Color Frenzy Collection

Sally Hansen sent me the new Limited Edition Color Frenzy Glitter Collection. This collection is part of the I Heart Nail Art Liquid Mani-a Collection. The bottles state texture polish but really these are more of a glitter top coat type of polish with a mixture of different glitters. There are eight different types of polishes to pick from. The glitters range from bar glitter to shards of glitter.

Some of these top coats are goopy and do not distribute the glitter fully, I have added the way each polish goes on with the descriptions. Each swatch is over a Sally Hansen Insta-Dri base.

Sea Salt-blue and gold mix of glitter with holographic shards-went on easy and evenly distributed

Candy Drop- pink matte hex glitter, small pink glitter ,small holo glitter and matte pink bar glitter-slight thick but glitter is evenly distributed

Splattered-matte pink hex glitter, black hex glitter, metallic gold shards, small red bar glitter and small gold glitter-goopy each stoke filled with glitter

Red White & Blue-red white and blue hex glitter in small and medium-slightly thick and you have to work with the bush to get glitter evenly distributed

Green Machine-matte green medium and small hex glitter, matte green bar glitter, and small holo glitter-went on smooth, glitter was evenly distributed

Sea Salt- small gold glitter with small gold hex glitter, small round blue glitter and gold shards-went on smooth and was evenly distributed

Paint Party-matt hex glitter and bar glitter in baby blue, peach and lime green-slightly thick but evenly distributed

Fruit Spritz-matte peach, light green and light pink hex glitter mixed with gold holo hex glitter-you really need to dig for and distribute the glitter

These retail for $4.99 each and can be found in the large end cap display with all new Sally Hansen Polish or the typical shelf display.

Large end cap display with Color Frenzy, Big Matte Top Coats,Salon Effects, Nail Art and Color Foil!

At first my thought was matte in a Insta-Dri formula that sounds like a bad idea since some of my previous trials with Insta-Dri did not end well, BUT these formulas provided a pleasant surprise! All six colors went on smooth dried in no time and look great! I really like all of these colors even though High n’ Dry did scare me because teals stain me even with a base but I’m happy to announce this one did not stain me!

All swatches have two coats, I have a favorite only because it’s been my go to color for a quick cover up those nails while running out the door polish! Mauve Matter is a color you have to purchase from the collection.

Coastin’ By is a mint green

High n’ Dry is a teal

In A Haze is a deep purple

Mattitude In Motion is a bright pink with shimmer

Mauve Matter is a nude don’t let the name fool you and is a must have!

White Pick It Fence is a nice white base for nail art!

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue Versus Comparable Blue Polish

Recently there has been an uproar in the nail community over Sally Hansen changing the formula and color of our beloved Pacific Blue. The color has been out since 2009 and is the must have blue for the collection for multiple reasons.

Pacific Blue is the perfect blue polish that not only goes on smooth it looks great in one coat and does not stain. As we rant and rave about this polish we must understand that Sally Hansen has to make changes for business purposes which still leaves us in wonder of why ruin a good thing. Yes the “new” reformulated Pacific Blue is gross in color and in application compared to the nail community’s original jewel, but hopefully Sally Hansen will hear the rants and let the original Pacific Blue rest in peace.

The good news is there are a few similar polishes in color and price to Pacific Blue like Sinful Colors Endless Blue and Sally Hansen Insta Dri In Prompt Blue which came out earlier this year. Both of these polishes go on nice but Endless Blue will need two coats.

In Prompt Blue is slightly darker but goes on just as smooth and only needs one coat! This polish is closer to Pacific Blue than the new imposter Pacific Blue so it you are looking for a polish that can deliver close in color and a refreshing application of Pacific Blue than I recommend giving In Prompt Blue a chance.

Bottles-so close in color right?

Can you guess which 2 nails have In Prompt Blue and which have Pacific Blue?

Middle and pinkie fingers have Pacific Blue, index and ring fingers have In Prompt Blue.

Can you guess which two fingers have Endless Blue and which two have Pacific Blue?

Index and ring finger have Pacific Blue while pinkie and middle finger have Endless Blue.

In Prompt Blue alone

Pacific Blue alone

Although Pacific Blue is slightly lighter in color the formula on In Prompt Blue is just as nice. Hopefully you found a back up of Pacific Blue but if you haven’t give In Prompt Blue or Endless Blue by Sinful Colors a chance.

Sally Hansen Palm Beach Jellies Collection

I received the Palm Beach Collection from Sally Hansen, this is a Limited Edition Polish offered in the Sally Hansen Triple Shine Collection. Sally Hansen states these polishes are: Sunny colored polishes that shine as bright as the Florida sun.

This collection has six Palm Beach inspired Triple Sine Nail Color shades bursting with vibrant pigment and intensive shine!

Since jellies are a bit more time consuming I have only swatched two from this collection, but will swatch the rest later. I test wore one of these polishes for five days with no top coat and was impressed with the wear of the polish, I am hard on my nails with workouts, the computer keyboard, dishes and all other day to day functions and can honestly say the no chipping and long lasting shine made me very happy!

These polishes are available in drugstores now and retail for $4.99 per bottle. They are a great alternative to OPI Sheer Tints.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish

Sally Hansen sent me six bottles of the newly launched Triple Shine nail polish. These polishes have hit most major drug stores and have been found at Target. The polish is available in 29 shades, the shades range from cremes, metallics to glitters and a top coat.

A few things you will notice right off are the many shade choices and of course the bottle shape. I like the bottle shape it is good for storage, the top pops off and gives you a nice handle to hold, the brush in this line is the same brush found in the Complete Salon Manicure collection. I was a little bummed to find they didn’t use a more streamlined brush to go with the bottle shape, but then again I’m not a fan of wide polish brushes!

The six shades that were sent to me are Play Koi, Kelp Out, Vanity Flare, Sparks Fly, Pearly Whites, and Twinkled Pink. All swatches have two coats and no top coat.

Follow on Facebook, IG: coolpolishblog, Twitter: coolpolish

Play Koi is a bright creme orange which I love, this shade is great for the fingers or the toes.

Kelp Out is a creme green, I’m not a fan of green polish but this is nice.

Vanity Flare is a beautiful purple creme.

For the glitter swatches I did them over color and two by themselves so you can see the jelly base.

This is Sparks Fly over Vanity Flare, this is a blue jelly base with small silver and blue glitter with a combo of large and small hex glitter in silver. This is a polish I see in the store and think I must have this thankfully I already do and you should too!

Pearly Whites is a iridescent glitter with iridescent flakes, the base is goopy.

Twinkled Pink is a pink jelly base with silver and gold glitter mixed with silver and gold hex glitter, this polish gives off an amazing gold glow. The swatch is over Play Koi and the glitter placement is from the hex glitter in the bottle, the two end fingers have one coat. This is another must have for the collection.

This swatch is so you can see the jelly base in both Sparks Fly, and Twinkle Pink, the swatches are over a white base coat and have two coats each!

Sally Hansen Salon effects Glitz Blitz!

Sally Hansen sent me some of their Salon effects Real Nail Polish Strips to try. I was slightly curious about nail strips but had a few doubts on them such as fitting my nails, hard to put on, and quick chipping…..boy was I wrong!

I was able to put these nails polish strips on in no time and they came in different sizes so they fit all of my nails!!

There are 16 nail polish strips, a cuticle stick, and a small nail file in each box.

To use the strips
Select the strips that match with your nails best
Start with clean nails
Push back your cuticles with the cuticle stick
Shape your nails with the file
Swipe each nail with polish remover to remove any oils or polish
Place the best fitting strip onto the nail
Shape and smooth the nail edge with the nail file

Surprisingly these nails strips work well, I abuse my nails everyday with a keyboard, dinner dishes and normal wear and tear, they have held up much better than I had anticipated. This product is something I would use again!

Salon effects can be found at most drugstore retailer and will sell for $9.99 each. Be sure to give them a try.
