L’Oreal Dark Sides of Grey by Colour Riche Collection!

Spotted at Bed Bath & Beyond is a new Polish Collection by L’Oreal, this collection is a mix of creams, foil, glitter textures and a holographic polish. Each bottle retails for $4.99.

Creams: Aux Chandelles, Grey Corset.

Textures: Caution Please, Totally D’Accord, Bad Boy Grey, Power Potion.

Holographic: Masked Affair

Foil: Miss Grey.

I purchased three of the textures, the foil, and the holo! The textures are packed full of glitter and look a little darker on the nail then the bottle, each swatch has two coats. The texture is slightly smoother than most textured, but if you can not stand texture polish skip these four and go straight for the holo and foil!

The swatches were photographed outside.

Masked Affair- typical holo with more lavender in it, if you need a holo get this!
Miss Grey- love love love this shade

18K Gold Hardener & Gel Shine 3D Top Coat by Sally Hansen!

Sally Hansen has launched a new top and bast coat! Today I found the two new items and a cuticle eraser at CVS. I purchased both the Hardener and top coat, continue reading for details and price.

18K Gold Hardener is a .33 fluid once bottle that retails for $7.29, this is a strengthening base according to the package the real 18K gold shield locks in moisture & strengthens nails. How it works: The formula instantly hardens & fortifies nails to prevent breaking, chipping & splitting. It has gold flakes in two colors, and can be worn alone or under the nail color.

Gel Shine 3D Top Coat which is an instant Gel shine & volume with no light, the package states that it goes on thick and dries quick. The bottle is a cube .45 fluid once and retails for $9.79.

The display also has 18K gold cuticle eraser that exfoliates & moisturizes cuticles this retails for $7.29.

**Update: I test wore the 18K Gold Hardener, it goes on smooth, dries fast and leaves the gold flecks flat which makes it very easy to apply polish over. A few things to note here, when applying a light polish the flecks do shimmer through which can be fun or annoying depending on the look you are going for. I’m wearing the hardener going on five days on my right hand there are no chips, my nails are holding up well and do seem a little stronger.  The one downfall of this base is that if you are going to place polish over it there may be a few gold flecks close to the cuticle so just be aware of how close you get to the cuticle with the hardener if you are going to apply polish on top of it.

There are nine shades in this collection, four jelly based Glitters: Ruby Queen, NY Princess, Blue Majesty, and Queen’s Jewels, two glitter based shades: Rule the City, and Fashion Queen and then three In a New York Color Minute formula: Royal Chic (jelly), Crown Gold (shimmer), and New York Color (shimmer).  All six glitters are labeled Crystal Couture.

These are not textured polishes they are simply glitter polishes.

For this blog I am going to focus on the four jelly based shades, these have two coats, went on smooth, dried fast and do not have a top coat, the formula is amazing!

#31DC2013September 31 Day Nail Challenge!

I decided to give the Chalkboard Nails 31 Day Challenge a try! With a month off from my
Masters program I will be able to complete the challenge and improve my nail art skills!

If you plan on participating in the challenge check out Chalkboard Nails for full details!

Day 1 is the color Red, not my favorite color so my polish choices where limited. What I used was Milani Tainted in Red (a textured polish) and Zoya Carmen.

To get this look:
1. Start with a good base coat
2. Paint four nails with the Textured polish (two coats)
3. Paint the ring finger
4. While the ring finger is still tacky add three colored rhinestones using tweezers (I used Iron-On Rhinestones which I purchased from JoAnne Fabrics.)

Are you going to join in this challenge? Is so feel free to share your art work on my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram @coolpolishblog

Milani Texture!

While at my local Walgreens over the weekend I found a new collection from Milani, it is a Limited Edition Textured Cream Lacquer with a Matte finish. There are six colors one gray then five bright and vibrant colors: Spoiled In Fuchsia, Purple Streak, Shady Gray, Yellow Mark, Aqua Splash and Tainted in Red. The price was $3.99 each which is pretty reasonable considering OPI Liquid Sand Lacquer is retailing for $9.00 a bottle.

I test wore the polish and yup I chipped a nail, the good news is that a quick dab of color covers the chip and you can’t even notice due to the textured and Matte look. I did not wear a base or top coat; the colors go on fast and come of easy.

Spoiled In Fuchsia

Purple Streak

Shady Gray

Yellow Mark

Aqua Splash-My favorite of the six colors!

Tainted Red
