Limited Edition Glitter by Sinful Colors

Today while at Target I stumbled across three Limited Edition Sinful Colors Glitters!! I purchased them for $1.99 each.

The names are adorable: Listed left to right: Thats Elfed Up!, Sleigh My Name (Coffee shops do this often) and Santa Claws. Sinful Colors Glitter polishes are always on point and the right price which is why they are one of my favorite.

For the swatches I brushed on the first coat and sponged on the second, all have a top coat.

Santa Claws is a gold shimmer base with mixed sizes of hex glitter in both red and white.

Sleigh My Name is holographic base with mixed gold hex glitter and white stars, you will need to dig for the stars.

That’s Elfed Up! is a clear base with larger red and off white hex glitter with smaller round white and green glitter.

If you see these purchase them for yourself and to gift!

Essie winter 2014 trend collection

While at Walgreens today I spotted the Essie 2014 Holiday nail polish collection, this collection is called winter 2014 trend collection with the theme ” when I jiggle hi jiggle low I kick off my heels!”

This blog post is to give followers a heads up on the Essie winter trend, for those who read my blog and follow my social media you know I do not blog about or use Essie, I own eight Essie polish shades, I’m not a fan of the Essie formula therefore I tend to stay away from them and would rather spend the money on Orly, OPI or Zoya.

This collection has four shades: tuck it in my tux, jiggle hi, jiggle low, double breasted jacket, and jump in my jumpsuit.

Tuck it in my tux- a sheer in a cream color.

Jiggle hi, jiggle low- metallic silver.

Double breasted jacket-cream red.

Jump in my jumpsuit-dark red.

Holiday Nails-Christmas Tree!

With the holiday season upon us I decided to add a little holiday spirit to my nails! This is a simple Christmas tree look which can be done in all colors with different types of decorations.

For this look I used NYC In a New York Minute MoMA and High Line Green (both press samples), star shaped nail rhinestones and nail tape. I kept the look simple but could have added “bulbs” using a toothpick or dotting tools.

To get the look:

1. Paint the nails a base color of choice, I used NYC MoMa.
2. Take the nail art tape and create a triangle on the nail. (I do one nail at a time.)

3. Take two more pieces of nail tape and place them diagonally inside the triangle.

4. Using a color of your choice, I used NYC High Line Green, paint inside the triangle tape.
5. Take the tape off right after you painted the nail.
6. Add a quick dry top coat I used NYC In a New York Minute (press sample)
7. Place the star rhinestone on the top of the tree.

A few tips:
1. Use a fast drying nail color or top coat when using nail art tape; it speeds up the nail art process.

2. When adding rhinestones to your nails you can either place the quick top dry coat to one nail at a time then place the rhinestone on the nail, or use a toothpick or dotting tool to dot on some quick drying top coat where you will be placing the rhinestone.

I purchased three sets; two of the sets are from the FX Collection; and then a random set with glitter.

OPI Liquid Sand Gift Set!

While out shopping today I stopped at my local Marshalls & TJ Maxx to see if there were any new polish set, to my surprise I stumbled across a few OPI sets called There’s Nothing Like the Present, each set has two full size polishes for $7.99. I picked up three sets, two sets are Liquid Sand and one is a glitter set!

The two Liquid Sand sets came with: Can’t Let Go (purple), Get Your Number (blue); Stay the Night (dark red); and The Impossible (red with stars), these polishes are from a limited release of the Mariah Carey collection that came out in early 2013.

The glitter set came with Save Me (micro silver glitter with holographic bar glitter); and Metallic for Life (black base with silver hex glitter). These two polishes are from the early 2012 Nicki Minaj collection.

These sets are perfect to give as a gift or to purchase for your own collection, at $7.99 for two you can’t go wrong!

Sally Hansen Holiday 2013 Bling in the New Year!

I purchased four new Complete Salon Manicure polishes from Sally Hansen; the four polishes are part of Sally Hansen’s Holiday 2013 Bling in the New Year Collection. Some of these polishes are reissues, the four I purchased are new, they are called Twinkle Toes-ty, 3, 2, 1derland, Midnight, Glitz and Fa-la-la-lavender. These were found at CVS and I was able to pick up four polishes for the price of two because Sally Hansen placed a coupon for buy one get one free on the display!

This review is on Twinkle Toes-ty and 3, 2,1derland. I used a base color under each swatch the name will be noted with the photo. When I posted the swatch for 3,2, 1derland on Instagram some thought it was a duplicate of Mermaids Tale, it is similar but different. You can see my review on Mermaids Tale here, the difference between these two polishes are that Mermaids Tale is a navy jelly base with more teal and less green glitter where 3,2,1derland is a clear base with green and teal multi-sized hex glitter that is more green than teal. These polishes have a wider brush which I am not a fan of.

3,2,1derland- on a base from Sally Hansen lustre shine called Moonstone, I took one photo outside and one inside so you can see the difference, the ring finger has three coats and the other fingers are a sponge gradient.

Sinful Colors Holiday 2013 Collection Tinsel N’ice

I purchased seven new holiday polishes from Sinful Colors; this collection is called Tinsel and N’ice and can be found in the Decorate Decadently display at Walgreens. You can see the new Mirror Metallic’s here, which is also part of this display! The seven polishes in the Tinsel N’ice collection are Silver Rainbows, Tinsel Town, Pink Icicles,Cold As Ice, Gold Tinsel, Tinsel and Shine, and Spiked Ice.

For the swatches I placed a Sinful Colors polish as the base, each color will be noted with the swatch. The Tinsel N’ice will be great for top coats, an accent nail or part of nail art. The formula is a thick clear base with different colored tinsel like bar glitter; the only two that will not resemble Tinsel are Cold As Ice and Spiked Ice.

For a comparison of other bar glitters which I have blogged about you can check out my review here for Sally Hansen and here Salon Perfect.

I can see this collection being used for everyday or other Holidays as well! I have a favorite in this collection it is Tinsel and Shine,  a bar glitter party on your nails and is perfect for any celebration nail design!

Be sure to check out coolpolishblog on Instagram for a swatch without a base color, I can also be found on Facebook!
