Sally Hansen Fall 2014 Runway Collection-New York Fashion Week

While at Bed Bath & Beyond recently I stumbled across a display of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish, at first I thought this was from the spring 2014 Runway Collection but as I looked closer I noticed the shades were different from the spring collection. A quick Google search came up with nothing so I think its safe to say this is a new launch. The new Display is a Limited Edition display called Runway Collection New York Fashion Week.

Display-also has nail files and Salon effects Nail Stickers.

It appears that there are fifteen shades in this collection: Glam Sequins: Five glitter top coats, Fall Pastels: Five light creams, and Dark Romance: Five darker shades some with shimmer.

In the display the shades are” left corner from left to right: Fall Pastels: Himalaya, In The Flesh, Cute-ture,Moulin Rose and Rhododendron, Front shades Dark Romance: from left to right: On the Mango, Somber Bliss, Ever Green, Dark Knight, and Ruper Red. Shades in right back from left to right Glam Sequins: Chile Flakes, Golden Rush, Vintage Confetti, Pink Dream, and Shattered Stars.

I purchased Pink Dream, this is a one coat on top of The new Matte Royal Shyness see review here.

Sally Hansen Create & Ornate Royal Statements-Limited Edition Polish

I purchased six of the eight Limited Edition Polishes from the Create & Ornate Royal Statements Collection. This collection has a black nail art pen, a white and silver nail art polish, four Matte Effect, and four Glitter Effect polishes which are the Xtreme Wear polishes.

This display was found at CVS and were purchased as a buy one get one 50% off.

Here is a picture of the display:

I purchased the four Matte Effects: Chain Mail, Wax Poetic, Blue Blood, and Royal Shyness, then two of the four Glitter Effects: Mind Your Manors, and Court Jest, I did take photos of the other two (photos below) and they are called Rogue Red, and Family Jewels. Rogue Red is much like Rouge Rush just with more red than pink.

The Mattes reminded me of the Quick Dri Matte, click here for swatches, however these went on much easier and has the brush which I like. Each swatch has two coats.

The Glitter Effects are all a mix of shard glitter, these swatches have one coat and went on smooth, the top coat is thin unlike recent glitter top coats from Sally Hansen.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish

Sally Hansen sent me six bottles of the newly launched Triple Shine nail polish. These polishes have hit most major drug stores and have been found at Target. The polish is available in 29 shades, the shades range from cremes, metallics to glitters and a top coat.

A few things you will notice right off are the many shade choices and of course the bottle shape. I like the bottle shape it is good for storage, the top pops off and gives you a nice handle to hold, the brush in this line is the same brush found in the Complete Salon Manicure collection. I was a little bummed to find they didn’t use a more streamlined brush to go with the bottle shape, but then again I’m not a fan of wide polish brushes!

The six shades that were sent to me are Play Koi, Kelp Out, Vanity Flare, Sparks Fly, Pearly Whites, and Twinkled Pink. All swatches have two coats and no top coat.

Follow on Facebook, IG: coolpolishblog, Twitter: coolpolish

Play Koi is a bright creme orange which I love, this shade is great for the fingers or the toes.

Kelp Out is a creme green, I’m not a fan of green polish but this is nice.

Vanity Flare is a beautiful purple creme.

For the glitter swatches I did them over color and two by themselves so you can see the jelly base.

This is Sparks Fly over Vanity Flare, this is a blue jelly base with small silver and blue glitter with a combo of large and small hex glitter in silver. This is a polish I see in the store and think I must have this thankfully I already do and you should too!

Pearly Whites is a iridescent glitter with iridescent flakes, the base is goopy.

Twinkled Pink is a pink jelly base with silver and gold glitter mixed with silver and gold hex glitter, this polish gives off an amazing gold glow. The swatch is over Play Koi and the glitter placement is from the hex glitter in the bottle, the two end fingers have one coat. This is another must have for the collection.

This swatch is so you can see the jelly base in both Sparks Fly, and Twinkle Pink, the swatches are over a white base coat and have two coats each!

Sally Hansen Salon effects Glitz Blitz!

Sally Hansen sent me some of their Salon effects Real Nail Polish Strips to try. I was slightly curious about nail strips but had a few doubts on them such as fitting my nails, hard to put on, and quick chipping…..boy was I wrong!

I was able to put these nails polish strips on in no time and they came in different sizes so they fit all of my nails!!

There are 16 nail polish strips, a cuticle stick, and a small nail file in each box.

To use the strips
Select the strips that match with your nails best
Start with clean nails
Push back your cuticles with the cuticle stick
Shape your nails with the file
Swipe each nail with polish remover to remove any oils or polish
Place the best fitting strip onto the nail
Shape and smooth the nail edge with the nail file

Surprisingly these nails strips work well, I abuse my nails everyday with a keyboard, dinner dishes and normal wear and tear, they have held up much better than I had anticipated. This product is something I would use again!

Salon effects can be found at most drugstore retailer and will sell for $9.99 each. Be sure to give them a try.

Sally Hansen Holiday 2013 Bling in the New Year!

I purchased four new Complete Salon Manicure polishes from Sally Hansen; the four polishes are part of Sally Hansen’s Holiday 2013 Bling in the New Year Collection. Some of these polishes are reissues, the four I purchased are new, they are called Twinkle Toes-ty, 3, 2, 1derland, Midnight, Glitz and Fa-la-la-lavender. These were found at CVS and I was able to pick up four polishes for the price of two because Sally Hansen placed a coupon for buy one get one free on the display!

This review is on Twinkle Toes-ty and 3, 2,1derland. I used a base color under each swatch the name will be noted with the photo. When I posted the swatch for 3,2, 1derland on Instagram some thought it was a duplicate of Mermaids Tale, it is similar but different. You can see my review on Mermaids Tale here, the difference between these two polishes are that Mermaids Tale is a navy jelly base with more teal and less green glitter where 3,2,1derland is a clear base with green and teal multi-sized hex glitter that is more green than teal. These polishes have a wider brush which I am not a fan of.

Display with coupon!

Twinkle Toes-ty- on a base from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear called Red Carpet, the polish is a clear base with multi-sized gold holographic hex glitter. Each nail has three coats.

3,2,1derland- on a base from Sally Hansen lustre shine called Moonstone, I took one photo outside and one inside so you can see the difference, the ring finger has three coats and the other fingers are a sponge gradient.

Sally Hansen Fall 2013 Insta-Dri!

I received three Limited Edition Insta-Dri polishes from Sally Hansen; the three colors they sent are from their Fall 2013 Rent The Runway release and are called No S-pear Time, Chop Chop Copper and Quick Jeanius.

The polish is fantastic; it goes on smooth with the Perfectionist Brush. This is a quick dry high shine polish and will dry in 60 seconds with a metallic finish. These deep fall colors are a nice addition to the collection, if you are a little reluctant to purchase darker shades I understand but will say these are great as they do not stain your nails or cuticles like many other blue and green polishes will.

Each swatch has a clear base coat and no top coat. I applied one coat with No S-pear Time and Quick Jenious, Chop Chop Copper needed three coats.

No S-pear Time- a delicious olive green with a silver metallic fleck

Chop Chop Copper-do not let the bottle fool you, this polish goes on lighter than you expect it to, you will need at least three coats to obtain a deep color on the nails, the end result is a copper with pink micro glitter.

Quick Jeanious- a beautiful deep blue with silver metallic fleck, I was not a fan of dark blue polish until now.

Candy Corn Nails!

This is a simple Fall look, which I used four colors to create! The four colors used are Inspire (brown) by Revlon, Mai Tia Ask? (orange) Revlon, Midtown Mimosa (yellow) NYC and Hard to Get (white) Sally Hansen. The nail decals where purchased at my local Dollar store.

The two Revlon colors where given to me by Revlon read my reviews here and here, all other supplies where purchased by me.

To get this look:
1. Start by painting the ring finger white (one coat)
2. Paint the remaining nails brown
3. Take a makeup sponge and add a stripe of white, orange and yellow, then rock the sponge over the nail
4. Take a quick drying top coat and go over each nail
5. Add a nail decal to each brown nail

#31DC2013 Day 19 Galaxy!

For this look I used a combination of Sally Hansen, Zoya and Ulta products.

To get this look:

  1. Start with a dark base color I used Midnight in NY by Sally Hansen in their  Complete Salon Manicure Collection.
  2. Using  a makeup sponge randomly dab on a purple and blue polish, for this I used  Zoya Aurora and Song.
  3. Using  a dotting tool I added hex glitter from Ulta called Starry Nights.
  4. The look was topped off with Out the Door by Northern Lights (gold version).

Galaxy!
